Title: Daisies/Cross contour

My inspiration to do a flower was simply that it was something realistic and I thought it would be something neat to do with pen and ink rather than just in pencil. Originally I was gonna do a rose but I could only get it the right angle and the way I wanted it in my sketches I couldn't seem to recreate the rose. So I decided to do a different flower, after searching for a bit I came to the decision of doing a daisy. I chose the daisy because I was able to recreate the image how I wanted it to look and I was also able to use the texture I wanted to where it would make the shadow and light source look right.

Title: Wannabe Emma Watson/Portrait drawing

Artist Statement:

1) I was inspired to draw her because she is one of my favorite actors and because I just couldn't seem to find anyone else. I also thought because this was my first time drawing a realistic portrait that she would be a little less challenging.

2)It took me a while but once I found a good picture I immediately began to outline her. After that, I started to fill in the facial features and then continued on with the details from there.

Title: Siamese almost Persian/Oil pastel

Artist Statement:

1)I was inspired to do a cat because they are adorable and I just love animals. I like to draw animals more than I do people because they are less complex and the result is adorable.

2)Originally I was going to do a goose for my piece, but I couldn't get the beak to look the way it should, my alternative would have been a cat or a ferret. I decided to do the Siamese because they have pretty eyes and they are just cute in general. The fur was what threw me off at first but once I got the hang of it, it became rather easy.

Title: landscape/watercolor

Artist Statement:

My inspiration for doing this is because we had to create something with a foreground, middle ground, and background, so my first thought was water. I also wanted to create something with a Japanese feel to it so I added some mountains and canoes. Originally I wanted to do a hill with some trees and a galaxy sky, but I couldn't find anything to put in the foreground so I went with my second choice which is now my final piece. It took a lot of layers in the water, sun, and sky and although I was going to add birds anyways they are a lot bigger and smeared than intended.

Title: thanatophobia-fear of death/dying/Monochromatic phobia

Artist Statement:

I chose the criteria in my piece because I thought what resembles death better than the grim reaper. I chose red because it brings a kind of fear to the painting and red is also the color of blood. It took forever, but I had to do a lot of layers for the darker areas, which was basically most of the piece. I also had to make sure that the figures in my painting were able to be seen without making my piece look unrealistic.

Title:

stuck in a twist/Form and function

Artist Statement:

My inspiration was water because I thought it would be cool to add the swirls and teardrops like water. I also liked the idea of adding a few geometric coils into my piece. There are a few coils that I designed on my own. The process of making my piece was a lot of wedging and rolling my coils. There were quite a few times where I had to use the sponge and fix the cracks in the clay. When blending and smoothing out the piece, I didn't have an issue even though I wasn't able to complete all of this.

Title: Dream/Spring Showcase

Artist Statement:

My inspiration for this was that I have always wanted the career of being a vet, but if I worry too much on little things I won't be able to focus on the main thing that will get me there. This piece was meant to allow the viewer to take a peaceful look at life and focus on you and the important things in your life. The process of making this piece took a lot of gluing and cutting, I had to think and then rethink a lot of things in which I was going to add to my piece. I eventually landed on just making a dreamcatcher rather than adding some sort of big cat or other animals. Although now that I look at it I am starting to regret not adding something else and doing a different color scheme.

Title: night flower/Collage

My inspiration to do a flower is that it was something complex because of the pedals and all the values of color I had to create. I also decided to do a flower because I consider myself good at drawing and using them in my pieces of art. The process took a lot of ripping and layering to get the pedals a certain way. The center of the flower was the most difficult because those were the smallest pieces and I had to layer on top of the layer to make the colors blend.

Title: Cold can/Social Issue

Artist Statement:

My inspiration was that one of the main issues in society today is pollution. People just throw their trash where they feel and don't realize what it does to our environment. The process behind this piece was to layer all the colors I needed to get the perfect value and shade. I also had to go over the lighter areas multiple times to make the can look realistic.

Title: flowers/Batik

Artist Statement: (2 paragraphs -Inspiration and Process.)

My inspiration for my piece was to create a spring feeling to it and to base it off of something that I am good at drawing. Most pieces in this criteria would be of a landscape so I decided to do something a little different by creating my own pattern by using flowers that I created on my own without a picture. The process took a lot of mixing and adding layers to get the right colors that I wanted. I also had to do a lot of rinsing in the end because of how much glue I used when drawing the flowers. I had a lot of blending to do for the background as well.
